What is solution focussed hypnotherapy?

Solution focussed hypnotherapy is a positive way of achieving change, step by step.

It begins with helping you to understand how the brain works and how anxiety, anger, fear, negative thinking and depression are caused. It enables you to understand why you feel the way you do and importantly, how you can get better.

Solution focussed hypnotherapy is based on neuroscience and extensive research and this valuable knowledge is explained in a way that makes sense to you and has relevance to your life. You will never be asked to revisit or relive any trauma or upsetting experiences or memories; instead, we focus on the positive changes you want to achieve and support you to make them a reality.

What can solution focussed hypnotherapy help with?

What will happen in a hypnotherapy session?

The first session is an initial consultation which is free and there is no obligation to continue with sessions following this. This is an hour long session where we discuss what you would like help with or what you want to achieve. This is followed by an explanation of the brain, based on neuroscience, which helps you to really understand why you are feeling the way you are and also to understand that positive change is possible and achievable for everyone. I will also explain hypnosis/trance and what subsequent session will look like should you decide you'd like to continue. You will receive a copy of my relaxation recording to use at home.

Subsequent sessions use a specific structure which focuses on the positive future or outcomes that you want to achieve. It helps you to find your own unique solutions. The hypnosis part of the session is something that people find incredibly relaxing and rewarding. Trance is simply a state of deep relaxation and focused attention. It is not something that is done to you, it is something that you choose to engage with. It is not remotely associated with the type of hypnosis you may have seen on television or stage shows and you remain in control at all times. What is trance and how is it used?

When I first began training as a Solution Focussed Hypnotherapist, I felt uneasy with the word 'Trance' until I came to understand what it really means. Every one of us goes in and out of trance lots of times every day. If you've ever watched a film and had to go back because you missed the last few minutes, you were in trance. The same goes for reading a book and even though you the read the last page, you didn't take it in....you guessed it, you were in trance. Often, when you're driving a regular route, you arrive at your destination without being aware of some of your journey, this is another example of trance. It is such a natural state of mind, that we experience so often, and it is a fantastically useful state of mind in which we can be really creative, imaginative and find the solutions that we need; our own solutions.
